Garden Suites & Pool Houses

Building detached backyard structures with efficient framing solutions for guest suites, garden suites, cabanas, and pool houses.

01 · The Service

Detached structures framed to the same standard as the main home.

A garden suite or pool house is a smaller structure — but it carries the same framing requirements as any other building on the property. The walls need to be plumb. The floor needs to be level. The roof needs to shed water and carry its load. And because these structures sit close to property lines, the tolerances on layout and setback accuracy matter more, not less.

We frame detached backyard structures with the same discipline we bring to full custom home builds. The scale is smaller. The standard is not. Garden suites in particular are subject to municipal setback requirements, building permit conditions, and in many cases, laneway or accessory dwelling unit regulations that affect how the structure is positioned and built. We work from your approved drawings and build what the permit calls for.

Pool houses and cabanas present their own framing considerations — proximity to water, humidity exposure, and the finish expectations that come with a luxury backyard environment. We frame these structures to give the cladding, roofing, and interior finish trades a solid, true substrate to work from.

Whether it’s a fully self-contained garden suite with its own mechanical systems or a poolside cabana with a simple roof and open walls, we frame it right and hand it off clean.

What's included.

L

Drawing Review

Full review of approved permit drawings before any material is ordered — setback dimensions, structural details, and roof geometry all confirmed.

L

Foundation Framing

Foundation interface and floor framing established precisely to the approved layout — setback accuracy verified before walls go up.

L

Floor Systems

Exterior wall framing built plumb and square — window and door rough openings sized to the drawings so cladding and finish trades have a true substrate.

L

Wall Framing

Roof framing built to the architectural drawings — pitch, overhang, and geometry executed correctly so roofing and soffit trades inherit a clean, accurate structure.

L

Roof Structure

LVL beam and header installations at larger openings and engineered locations, coordinated with your structural engineer’s specifications.

L

Structural Steel Integration

Sheathing installed to wall and roof planes — nailed to schedule and ready for the building envelope trades.

L

Sheathing

Rough openings for mechanical penetrations, electrical panels, and plumbing stacks framed and blocked to the mechanical drawings.

L

All lumber drops and site waste removed before we leave. Clean site handed off ready for the next trade.

03 · How It Works

Our process.

01

Permit Drawing Review & Site Verification

We review your approved permit drawings in full before we begin. Setback dimensions, foundation layout, structural details, and roof geometry are all confirmed against the site conditions before any material is ordered or cut.

02

Estimate & Schedule

You receive a clear scope and price. Detached accessory structures are typically faster to frame than the main home — we give you a realistic timeline and sequence that coordinates with your other site trades.

03

Precise On-Site Framing

We frame the structure from the foundation up — floor system, walls, and roof — to the approved drawings and to the standard the finish trades expect. Setback accuracy, plumb walls, and a true roof plane are non-negotiable on every job we take on, regardless of scale.

04

Inspection & Hand-off

We coordinate the municipal framing inspection and remain on site until sign-off is in hand. The structure is left clean, sheathed, and ready for the roofing, cladding, and interior finish trades to begin.
